HomeStay - Living with Canadian Families
When a homestay student arrives at the Vancouver airport either a staff member or the student’s host family will meet them there. School staff and the host family will provide an initial orientation to the city and surrounding areas. Ongoing support will also be provided by school staff and the host family to help the student adjust to the school, Canadian culture and life living with a Canadian family. Our network of host families are interested in other cultures and they value the friendship of their international students. Our host families provide a safe and comfortable English-speaking environment that enables students to develop their use of English and learn about Canadian culture.
Living with a Canadian family promotes the learning of English while providing the ideal opportunity for our students to enjoy family outings, ski trips, camping and many other activities with their host family. The host families are in frequent contact with the school and supervise the student’s homework. St. John’s International School Homestay Coordinator screens and monitors homestay families to ensure that all families meet our high standards.
